Readings and other delights coming up in Montreal for Underwater City!

Hey friends, not a whole lot of time to write a heartfelt message this evening, other than: MY NIECE WENT TO HER FIRST DAY OF PRE-KINDERGARDEN TODAY AND I’M SO PROUD OF HER!!
Ok, now that I got that out there, here’s some info about two events that I’ll be a part of this month, here in Mtl. Would love to see you there!(Forgive me for copying and pasting these event write-ups:)

September 16: 7-9 pm
Reading of Hot, Wet & Shaking, and Underwater City I
Cafe L’artere, 7000 Ave du Parc

Join me, author of Underwater City I and Kaleigh Trace, author of Hot, Wet, & Shaking: How I learned to talk about sex, for an evening of reading, making friends and book/ zine signing!

**Entrance wheelchair accessible
Free of cost
Washroom not wheelchair accessible – there is one in a nearby Tim Hortons. Sorry that this is not entirely accessible. Accessibilizing artistic venues is a project that Accessibilize Mtl, the Working Group on Disability and Performance, and a growing number of committed people including me are working on. Join us. We’ll get there!

Sept 30: 6-8pm

Gender, Disability and Sexuality: Real Talk with Accessibilize Montreal
1500 De Maisonneuve West #404 (Gender Advocacy Centre)

Ever been enjoying yourself on a hot date when your date begins asking questions about your medical condition? Ever been alone on a Friday night because there are too many barriers placed in your path like stairs into bars, lack of sign-language at shows, or lack of access to an appropriate washroom? People with disabilities/ diverse ways of being are fetishized, stigmatized, at higher risk of abuse, and often excluded when it comes to intimate relationships. Accessibilize Montreal invites you to explore all that feeds into this such as ideas of normal and abnormal, misogyny, and narrow visions of gender and sexuality. Let’s talk gender, accessibility, and sex! This will be an open discussion facilitated by Aimee Louw, who will be joined by other members of Accessibilize Montreal. All are welcome!

**Entrance wheelchair accessible, couch and folded chair seating
Free of cost
Washroom not wheelchair accessible – accessible washrooms in Cafe Depot below the venue, or Hall building of Concordia @ 1455 De Maisonneuve W.
Please contact Accessibilize Mtl if there are things we can do to make you comfortable or to increase your access or enjoyment to the workshop!
Zines will be available for sale at both events! They are also available by mail if people contact me:
Fb: Underwater City Zine I

Finally, for people with visual impairments or anyone who would prefer to HEAR Underwater City I, stay tuned for the release of.. Underwater City I: the audio zine! Its release will be announced in the fall.
